We couldn’t resist a little detour (4 hours drive) to visit this magnificent place:

We were joined by Kat and Will, another British cycle touring couple who we met on the road to San Francisco, and headed out to explore the park on foot. The first day we hiked up to the top of Yosemite Falls, arriving just as the sun set, descending under brilliant moonlight and starry skies.  The second day we followed the aptly named Mist Valley to some beautiful waterfalls, traversed along the breathtaking Panorama Trail and up to Glacier Point.

Cat and Mike joined us at the weekend for a spot of climbing at the crags next to Camp 4, and a lovely multi pitch at Manure Pile Buttress in the shadows of giants; El Capitan and Half Dome framed the view.

The sun sets on the valley. A super moon. Pinpricks of light, starlight in the sky, torchlight on the cliffs, as tiny people climb into the night, granite glowworms suspended all around.
